There’s something magical about summer around here. Neighbors wave. Someone’s always grilling. The kids bounce bike rides and sprinkler runs.

Friends turn into family. Weekends fill up with music, markets, and backyard hangouts.

I guess I’m just feeling a little extra grateful— for slower mornings, fun little projects, and having the kids home for the summer with nowhere we have to be. These are the days we’ll wish we could bottle up.

šŸ« Leander ISD Considers Consolidating Elementary Schools by 2026–27

Leander ISD is exploring how to make better use of its campuses amid shifting enrollment and tight budgets. One option includes consolidating three under-enrolled elementary schools and repurposing their buildings to meet other district needs, such as pre-K or district operations.

No decisions have been made yet, and the district will host more community discussions before any action is taken. Read more here.

šŸš€ Firefly Lands $50M Rocket Deal

Cedar Park–based Firefly Aerospace just secured a $50 million investment from aerospace giant Northrop Grumman to develop Eclipse, a medium-lift rocket designed for missions to low-Earth orbit. The new launch vehicle will combine Firefly’s Alpha technology with Northrop’s Antares rocket and is expected to debut in 2026.

Eclipse will handle space station resupply, commercial spacecraft, and national security payloads. The investment strengthens a growing partnership between the two companies and follows Firefly’s historic success landing a commercial lander on the moon. Read more here.

šŸ” Lariat Launches Phase Two – Liberty Hill

Phase two of Lariat is rolling out, adding 579 more homes to this growing Liberty Hill community. Prices start in the $400Ks and go up to around $1 million, with builders like Drees, Highland, and TriPointe bringing flexible floorplans and thoughtful design touches.

Around the neighborhood, you’ve got walking trails, a fishing pond, a dog park, and a brand-new amenity center with a pool, splash pad, and event lawn. Plus, there’s a new elementary school going up close by—so it’s a solid spot for families looking to put down roots. Read more here.

šŸ¤ Operation Liberty Hill – Liberty Hill

1401 N US Hwy 183, Leander

Pitch in where it counts—right here in our neighborhood.

Operation Liberty Hill is one of my absolute favorite volunteer organizations in the area. The work they do is real, local, and deeply needed.

Whether you’ve got an hour or a whole afternoon, there’s a way to help:

šŸ›’ Greet shoppers or sort treasures at the thrift store
🄫 Pack groceries or hand out food at the pantry
🌱 Tend the garden or help with donation pickups

This place runs on community. If you're 16 or older, come solo. Younger volunteers are welcome with an adult.

šŸ› Tandoor by Kababeque – Cedar Park

202 Walton Way STE 150, Cedar Park

This modern Pakistani eatery brings bold, homestyle flavor to Cedar Park with sizzling grill platters, rich curries, and standouts like mutton karahi and saffron ice cream. The vibe is cozy and welcoming—think date night or family dinner—with attentive service and thoughtful touches like chai service and a prayer area.

Don’t skip the mango mint lemonade or homemade desserts. It’s authentic, satisfying, and worth the drive. More details here.

🌮 Aparicio’s – Leander

11880 Hero Way W Ste 201, Leander

This family-run spot might have limited hours, but it delivers big on flavor, charm, and hospitality. From Texas-sized burritos and spicy salsas to creamy horchata coffee and dragonfruit limeade, the portions are huge and the service is even bigger.

Expect samples, smiles, and strong community vibes. Arcade games keep the kids busy, and the Hot Cheeto elote is a must. Worth the wait—and the drive. More details here.

🄪 The Daily Blend – Liberty Hill

13740 W State Hwy 29, Liberty Hill

A bright, welcoming cafƩ serving up crave-worthy sandwiches, smoothies, and plant-based eats. From the everything avocado toast to the scratch-made Italian sandwich, every bite is fresh and flavorful.

The staff is kind, the vibe is cozy, and there’s even a drive-thru for healthy bites on the go. Bonus: they’ve got a heart for the community, too—offering space for locals to gather, learn, and connect. More details here.
