For my fellow parents: with more cold-weather days ahead, what do you do with the kids when the park is out of the question?

We’ve been loving Cheeky Monkeys in Cedar Park, but we’re always looking for new ideas. What are your favorite indoor spots for elementary-aged kids? Or even simple at-home activities that keep them busy and happy. I’m always looking for new ways to switch things up.

Hit reply and share your favorite places around town or your go-to at-home ideas. I’d love to swap suggestions and help everyone stay moving, creating, and having fun all winter long.

🛍️ New Stores Announced for Liberty Hill’s Ace Square

The Gist: Ace Square, a new retail development planned for Highway 29 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard, just confirmed several major tenants beyond the already-announced Walmart anchor.

Developers say the center will include:

🛠️ Lowe’s
🥩 Longhorn Steakhouse
🍔 Bubba’s 33
🐾 PetSmart
🛍️ Ross

Why It Matters: These additions bring a mix of dining, home improvement, and everyday shopping options closer to Liberty Hill residents, cutting down on trips to neighboring cities.

What’s Next: The two-building retail center is expected to deliver in 2026, though tenant openings and final lineups remain subject to change as leasing continues.

🏫 LHISD shares proposed boundary changes

The Gist: Liberty Hill ISD released a recommended attendance boundary plan for elementary, middle, and high schools starting in the 2026–27 school year. The proposal is explained in a video by Interim Superintendent Travis Motal and is tied to new schools opening in 2026 and 2027. Families and staff can share feedback through an online link and QR code.

Why It Matters: As our community keeps growing, boundary changes can affect where our kids go to school and how neighborhoods feel day to day. Some families may be excited about the plan, while others may have concerns about how it impacts their kids. Either way, it’s encouraging to see the district asking for input early, and this is a great time to speak up and share feedback.

🚗 Toll rates increase across Central Texas

The Gist: Higher toll prices went into effect Jan. 1, 2026, according to the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority. Rates increased by about 3 percent at most tolling points, including 183A Toll, 183 Toll, 290 Toll, 71 Toll, 45SW Toll, and the MoPac Express Lane. Prices still vary by location, time of day, and payment method.

Why It Matters: If you use toll roads regularly, the higher rates are now part of your everyday drive. It’s one of those changes that’s good to be aware of because you’ll definitely notice once the statement hits!

A fresh favorite on Main Street

1004 Main St, Liberty Hill

Wish Kitchen + Bar opened at the end of November and has already become a go-to for nights out in Liberty Hill. The space is small, lively, and full of energy, with a menu that mixes comfort food with creative touches.

Standouts include the wagyu smash burger, Korean BBQ wings, potato pavé, and shrimp wontons. Cocktails are thoughtful and fun, and the food feels carefully made. It’s a great pick for date night or an evening with friends downtown.

🍜 For chewy noodles and comforting bowls

1201 N Bell Blvd suite 100, Cedar Park

Noodle Alley is a solid stop when you’re craving noodles that actually have some bite. The beef noodle soup stands out, with a deep, savory broth and chewy noodles that feel closer to ramen.

Dan Dan noodles are another favorite, especially once you mix in the sauces to get the balance just right. Dumplings and spring rolls round things out nicely. It’s clean, casual, and easy to come back to when the noodle craving hits.
