What the district released
Liberty Hill ISD has published a recommended attendance boundary plan for elementary, middle and high schools starting in the 2026–27 school year. The proposal is being presented through a video led by Interim Superintendent Travis Motal, who explains the suggested boundary changes and the factors shaping them.
In the presentation, Motal walks through proposed attendance zones and outlines how enrollment projections and upcoming campus openings influenced the recommendations. The district stressed that the plan is preliminary and may change based on public input.
Throughout the video presentation, viewers are directed to a QR code and an online feedback link where parents, staff and community members can submit questions, comments and suggestions. District leaders said they are currently focused on gathering ideas rather than finalizing decisions.
“We are in the collection of ideas and feedback stage of this process,” Motal said, adding that the boundaries could be revised after reviewing responses from the community.
New schools driving the changes
The proposed boundary updates are tied to multiple new campuses scheduled to open over the next two years. LHISD plans to open Lariat Trails Elementary School and Legacy Ranch Middle School in August 2026. Saddleback Elementary School is scheduled to open in August 2027. District leaders said the new schools are needed to manage continued enrollment growth.

Town halls scheduled
To gather additional input, LHISD will host two identical town hall meetings next week. Boundary maps for individual campuses will be displayed, and campus principals and district staff will be available to answer questions.
The meetings are scheduled for:
• Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. at Liberty Hill Middle School, 13125 W. Hwy. 29
• Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. at Legacy Ranch High School, 450 County Road 258
What happens next
All feedback from the video, written submissions and town halls will be reviewed by the attendance boundary advisory committee at its Jan. 22 meeting. The committee is expected to present a final recommendation to the LHISD Board of Trustees on Feb. 16 for possible approval.
The process marks an early step in shaping how students will be assigned as Liberty Hill ISD continues to grow.
