The Gist: Turns out we’ve got some new neighbors! Leander’s 78641 ZIP code was the fourth most moved-to in the entire nation for 2025 so far, according to MovingPlace. From January through May, 3,349 new households rolled in, drawn by our great schools, welcoming communities, and easy access to Austin.

The Gist: Austin City Council voted Aug. 28 to approve a long-term lease agreement with seven major airlines, unlocking billions for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s largest-ever expansion. Plans include a new 20–30 gate concourse, a six-football-field-sized arrivals hall, and new taxiways. Southwest aims to grow from 10 to 18 gates, making ABIA its Texas flagship.

Why It Matters: The project will more than double airport capacity to 31 million annual passengers, cementing Austin as one of the fastest-growing air travel hubs in the U.S.
