This Father’s Day, I couldn’t miss this chance to thank — and brag about — TJ, my husband and business partner in these newsletters.

He shows up. He’s intentional with the kids. Leads by example. Brings humor into the chaos. And he keeps his priorities clear, even when life gets busy.

We’re so lucky to have him — at home and on the team. And we're glad this day gives us a reason to say it out loud.

Happy Father’s Day to my favorite dads and ALL the dads showing up and shaping their families in big and small ways. ā¤ļø

I don’t know about you, but I can barely keep up with all the new stuff popping up around here. Growth in Leander is wild right now.

The latest? Hero Way Crossing, a new retail center going up just off Hero Way West. It’s set to open fall 2025 with a mix of food and retail.

Confirmed eats:

And right next door, a new 40,000-square-foot medical complex is on the way, bringing more health and dental services to W. Broade Street. Read more here.

šŸ”„ Family Feud Sizzles in BBQ Documentary

The Gist: You have to see this documentary about the wild drama behind the Texas BBQ scene and the Black family. It gets into the huge family feuds, the old-school spots, and how Texas Monthly's top 50 list can literally make or break a restaurant. If you've been to Terry Black's or Black's near downtown, that's who this is about. And you can watch it now on YouTube or KXAN!

Why it matters: The crazy family drama they talk about is the exact reason we have Terry Black's here in Austin, which started after a major family split at the original Black's in Lockhart. Read more here.

šŸš— Speed Limits Raised in Cedar Park

If you’ve felt like everyone was already going faster on New Hope or Scottsdale—well, now it’s official.

New Hope Drive is now 45 mph between 183A Toll and Cottonwood Creek Trail.
Scottsdale Drive jumps from 30 to 35 mph near Volta, and hits 40 mph closer to New Hope.

City Council gave it the green light on April 24, aiming to match speeds with how traffic actually moves through those busy stretches. Read more here.

Dad Approved šŸ‘ļø

šŸ– Stiles Switch BBQ – Cedar Park

800 W Whitestone Blvd Suite A-1, Cedar Park

This Cedar Park offshoot of the Austin favorite delivers smoky, peppery ribs, tender brisket, and sides that hold their own—think creamy mac, crisp Brussels sprouts, and corn casserole done right.

The vibe’s laid-back and family-friendly, with house-made sauces (the lime BBQ is legendary) and plenty of room to spread out. And honestly, is there a dad who doesn’t love good BBQ? Treat him to a Father’s Day feast that hits all the right notes. More details here.

🄩 Bitelo Brazilian Steakhouse – Cedar Park

1850 S Lakeline Blvd #200, Cedar Park

If there’s one stereotype that tends to hold true, it’s that dads love meat—and Bitelo is the perfect place to satisfy that craving. This family-owned Brazilian steakhouse offers unlimited tableside cuts like picanha, ribeye, and lamb, alongside a fresh salad bar and delicious sides like cheese bread and fried bananas.

For Father’s Day or any day, it’s a top-tier feast sure to fill him up to the brim with all his favorites. Friendly service seals the deal. More details here.

šŸ‚ LongHorn Steakhouse – Cedar Park

1469 E Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park

If Dad’s love language is perfectly grilled steak and bottomless bread, this is the move. LongHorn delivers big flavor with ribeyes, creamy mac, and warm, buttery rolls that vanish fast. The service is attentive, the portions hearty, and the vibe? Just right for a no-fuss feast.

This Father’s Day, skip the speeches—just hand him a fork, let the meat do the talking, and give the man a meal worthy of his grill master legacy. More details here.
