Christmas week sneaks up on me every year, and somehow it feels like it moves faster every year too. This season, we really went for it. We squeezed in every party, gift exchange, and community event we possibly could, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
And I’ve got to say, I’m especially proud this year: the kids seem just as excited to give gifts as they are to open them. Watching that shift happen is one of those “pause and soak it in” moments. It’s the heart of the season.

🏫 Leander ISD closing Faubion Elementary
The Gist: Leander ISD voted to close Faubion Elementary, with students moving to Westside Elementary starting next school year. At the same time, the board hit pause on any consolidation plans for Steiner Ranch Elementary, saying they’ll revisit that conversation later. District leaders pointed to enrollment trends, campus capacity, staffing challenges, and long term finances as the main reasons behind the decision.
Why It Matters: This is one of those decisions that comes with a lot of strong opinions. For Faubion families, this impacts daily routines, commutes, friendships, and a school community many are deeply connected to. For others in the district, it raises bigger questions about growth, planning, and what comes next. I’m sure it’ll be a decision that a lot of local families will be watching closely as plans move forward and future consolidation conversations continue.
