Hi neighbors, I hope everyone had a fun and safe Fourth of July weekend!

One thing I’ve learned since moving to Texas is that this state does not do holidays halfway. From fireworks and parades to cookouts, lake days, and live music, Texas has a way of making everything feel a little bigger and a lot more festive.

There’s something special about a holiday that gets people outside, brings neighbors together, and reminds us to slow down and enjoy the summer. I hope yours had plenty of good food, good company, and maybe even a nap afterward.

The Gist: Northline in Leander has two new dining spots on the way. Piada Italian Street Food is expected to begin construction this summer, while Tifa Chocolate & Gelato plans to open in early 2027, bringing Italian street food, handcrafted gelato, pastries, and chocolates to the growing mixed-use district.

Why It Matters: If you’ve been watching Northline take shape, here’s another sign Leander’s future downtown is becoming more than plans on paper. Whether you’re grabbing lunch, meeting friends for coffee, or treating the family to gelato after dinner, these additions mean a few more reasons to stay close to home instead of driving across town.

The Gist: Williamson County has launched its 2026 Community Survey, giving residents a chance to weigh in on county services and quality of life. The survey takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and participants can enter a drawing to win a $500 prepaid Visa gift card. If you've ever thought, "I wish the county would fix this," here's a chance to speak up. Feedback from the survey will help guide future decisions about county services, so a few minutes now could help shape the priorities that affect our community.

The Gist: Major's Burgers is making a comeback in Liberty Hill after closing in late 2024. A recently filed city permit for a new location at Jardin Plaza confirms the restaurant's return, although it's still unclear who will operate it or when it will open.

Why It Matters: If you ever made the drive for one of Major's burgers or onion rings, you'll probably be happy to see the name back! It was a longtime local favorite for family dinners and post-game meals, and its return will bring back a familiar hometown spot that many residents have missed.

A fun new dining experience is headed to Leander. Pepper Lunch plans to open by the end of 2026, bringing its signature 500-degree cast-iron plates where guests finish cooking and mixing their meals right at the table. The interactive concept has become a hit around the world for its fresh, made-to-order approach.

Expect favorites like the famous beef pepper rice, sizzling steaks, teriyaki dishes, and other Japanese comfort food. It's one more restaurant locals can look forward to as Leander's dining scene continues to grow.

CoreHaus Pilates has officially opened its new Liberty Hill studio, bringing high-intensity, low-impact workouts to District 29. Along with reformer Pilates classes for all experience levels, the studio features a curated retail space with activewear from brands like Beyond Yoga, Rhone, and Free People Movement.
