Williamson County Addresses Safety Concerns in Liberty Hill Area
Williamson County Commissioners have approved new traffic signals at Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Via De Sienna, responding to safety concerns from Liberty Hill residents. The $650,000 project aims to improve conditions at this busy intersection located between Rancho Sienna and Bar W Ranch communities.
Safety Data Prompts Action
Recent traffic monitoring revealed concerning patterns in the area. A county study showed thousands of vehicles exceeding speed limits near Rancho Sienna Elementary, with some drivers recorded traveling up to 66 mph in residential zones. The highest concentration of speeding occurred along the main corridors connecting these neighborhoods.
Community Response
While many welcome the added safety measure, some residents feel it doesn't fully address concerns closer to the elementary school. Since initial complaints were raised, Liberty Hill ISD has increased police presence during school dismissal times as a temporary measure.
"It's needed for safety issues, however, it doesn't solve all the problems we're experiencing in Rancho," noted one resident who lives near the intersection.
Implementation Timeline
The county expects construction to begin in spring 2025 with completion by fall. Officials also mentioned they're continuing discussions with the HOA, school district, and law enforcement about comprehensive traffic solutions throughout the growing area.
