🍜 This Leander food truck is worth the stop

Spring break was just really good this year. The weather felt practically like summer the whole week (minus a couple of days), and we even got some pool time in. OK fine, I wasn't brave enough to actually get in the water just yet, but the kids sure were! We took full advantage of some great events around town, got to see friends, and just had a little more room to breathe than a typical week allows.

There’s always something fun happening around here, and it makes it so easy to fill a week off with good memories. To those of you who got a break too, I hope you enjoyed it and soaked up some of that beautiful Texas sun!

The Gist: Liberty Hill is looking for a team to help shape the future of downtown. The city recently posted a request for qualifications for work tied to land planning, infrastructure, business incentives, and construction. The goal is to keep that historic downtown feel while making room for more shops, restaurants, and improved parking. Proposals are due April 7, and City Council is expected to consider a consultant in June.

Why It Matters: Growth is coming either way, so it’s encouraging to see Liberty Hill being intentional about it. A thoughtful downtown plan could help preserve the character people love while making space for more of the shops, restaurants, and gathering spots locals actually want.

The Gist: Reagan Sports Club is bringing a 44,000-square-foot indoor sports facility to Leander, with plans for indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, pickleball, taekwondo, yoga, a gym, and court rentals. Groundbreaking is expected in March 2027, with an opening targeted for fall 2028. The project will also include a retail component nearby as part of Phase II of The Shops at Ronald Reagan.

Why It Matters: It’ll be a while before this one opens, but more nearby options for sports, fitness, and kids’ activities are always a win. This is an addition lots of families around here will be excited about, including us! We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.

There’s something comforting about a food truck that gets it right every time. Lali Son Fast Food: Indian & Nepali Cuisine serves up paneer fried rice, veg noodles, and juicy momos that disappear fast.

The chicken tikka masala and biryani are standouts, and spice levels are happily adjusted for kids or cautious palates. It’s friendly and easy, and you can tell they really care about taking care of their customers.
