Swipe to Give: Cedar Park welcomes holiday ‘Giving Machines’
Charitable vending kiosks return to Central Texas with dozens of ways to help local nonprofits
Seasonal donation kiosks return to the region
Cedar Park will host its first set of “Giving Machines” this holiday season, offering residents an easy and creative way to support local charities. The vending-style donation stations will be set up at The Crossover sports complex from November 18 through December 7, marking their second appearance in Central Texas after debuting last year in Bee Cave.
How the experience works
Each machine displays about 30 cards, and every card represents a tangible item or service that can be donated. Visitors can choose from options such as meals, warm bedding, medical kits, baby supplies or even a baby goat, then swipe to make the contribution. The concept is designed to turn everyday giving into something interactive, visible and fun.
A global effort with community benefits
The Giving Machines program launched internationally in 2017 and is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since then, the machines have generated more than $50 million in donations worldwide, supporting both local and global nonprofit partners.
With Cedar Park now joining the list of host cities, the community gains another avenue to lift up neighbors during the holiday season. It is a simple idea with a feel-good impact that resonates far beyond the machine..
