A record fundraising day
P. Terry’s Burger Stand reached a new high during its most recent Giving Back Day, raising 57,693 dollars in a single day. On the designated Saturday, 100 percent of profits from P. Terry’s Central Texas locations were donated to a holiday charity program that supports local families and nonprofits. Customers lined up inside restaurants and filled drive-thru lanes throughout the day.
The total marked the largest single Giving Back Day contribution since the program began.
A long history of giving
Since opening its first location in 2005, P. Terry’s has donated more than 2.5 million dollars to community causes. Much of that support has come through quarterly Giving Back Days, which started with a small donation to the Boys and Girls Club shortly after the restaurant’s launch.
The December Giving Back Day is part of a long running partnership with a holiday giving program that began in 1999 and has now raised more than 22 million dollars overall. Combined, P. Terry’s December events have contributed more than 529,000 dollars to those efforts.
Where the money goes
This year’s funds are supporting a wide range of Central Texas organizations, including Any Baby Can, Breast Cancer Resource Center, Communities In Schools, Community Action of Central Texas, Family Eldercare, Foundation Communities, Foundation for the Homeless, Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, Hospice Austin, Interfaith Action of Central Texas and SAFE Alliance.
Why participation keeps growing
Patrick Terry said awareness of Giving Back Days has increased, especially after a summer fundraiser that supported flood relief efforts in Central Texas and Kerrville. He said participation has continued to rise across Austin, San Antonio and Houston.
Kathy Terry said the December fundraiser remains meaningful because it highlights neighbors facing real challenges and helps connect them with needed support.
