The Gist: Liberty Hill ISD will return to mostly five-day school weeks for the 2026–27 school year after trying a hybrid four-day schedule during 2025–26. The new calendar includes shorter school days and was approved by the school board after a five-month planning process with community input. The school year will begin Aug. 12, 2026.

Why It Matters: This decision has stirred up a lot of feelings in the community. Some families are relieved to return to a predictable five-day routine, while others appreciated the flexibility the four-day schedule offered. There’s no perfect answer, but hopefully both staff and families can adjust well to the transition back to a five-day week.

The Gist: Titan Development Ltd. will break ground on its 115-acre Leander 183 Commerce Center this summer, with the first two speculative buildings totaling 240,000 square feet expected in early 2027. The full project could eventually reach 1.3 million square feet, bringing new industrial space to the fast-growing Cedar Park-Leander corridor. Developers report strong interest from prospective tenants, including high-tech manufacturing companies.

Why It Matters: The project could bring more jobs to the area, draw in new businesses, and continue building Leander’s presence north of Austin. It’s one more sign that the city is expanding and creating new opportunities for local workers and businesses.

The Gist: Williamson County Emergency Communications just earned a pretty big honor. It’s now the first Tri-ACE agency in Texas and one of only 32 in the world. That recognition reflects a high level of training and excellence in medical, police, and fire dispatch.

Why It Matters: In an emergency, the voice on the other end of the line matters a lot. This is a nice reminder that the people handling those calls are highly trained and ready to help when it counts most. It’s reassuring to know our community has that kind of support in place.

The Gist: Cedar Park is rolling out LiNK Cedar Park, a new pilot program aimed at making it easier and more affordable to get around town. Residents will be able to use Uber vouchers for up to 10 rides a month, paying the first $5 of each trip while the city covers up to $10. Wheelchair accessible rides through zTrip will also be available, with no monthly trip cap. The program starts in April, and the city will be watching closely to see how well it works long term.

Why It Matters: For a lot of people, getting to the store, an appointment, or a local event isn’t always easy. This could be a really helpful option for residents who need a little more flexibility getting around. It’s nice to see Cedar Park trying something practical that could make everyday life a little easier for more people.

Sami Sumeli Georgian European Restaurant brings warm, soulful Georgian cooking to the table, from juicy beef khinkali to rich Adjarian khachapuri with molten cheese and egg. Garlic-laced chicken stews and hearty soups round things out beautifully.

Add welcoming service, Georgian wine, and soft music in a cozy setting, and you have a delicious little escape right in town.
