Downtown Improvement Project Underway Through Mid-May
Our Liberty Hill downtown area is getting a fresh look with construction that began on February 17. This streetscape project, part of the Downtown Master Plan that our City Council approved last summer, focuses on improving the west side of Main Street between W Myrtle and Grange Street.
What's Changing on Main Street
The improvements will make strolling downtown more enjoyable and attractive. Workers will be widening sidewalks and replacing plain concrete with decorative brick pavers. The plan also includes planting trees, adding colorful flower beds, and installing benches where folks can sit and enjoy our downtown atmosphere.
Getting Around During Construction
Though construction is active, all roads remain open. Drivers should note that lanes on Main Street (between Munro and RR 1869) will be narrower than usual during the work period, so it's best to slow down and watch out for construction workers.
Supporting Local Businesses
All downtown shops and services will keep their regular hours during the construction, which is expected to wrap up by May 15. Some businesses won't have front door access for a while, but you can still reach them through their back entrances on Van Alley:
Eckermann Engineering
Big Apple Smoke Shop
Liberty Hill Bookkeeping & Tax Service
Liberty Hill Masonic Lodge
Float the River (Hell or Highwater)
This project represents another step in making our downtown the heart of Liberty Hill—a place that honors our history while creating space for community connections and supporting our local business owners. The temporary inconvenience will lead to lasting improvement
