Land Secured for Future Campuses
Liberty Hill ISD is making room for the future. At a special meeting on 06/02, the school board approved the purchase of a 160-acre property in southwest Liberty Hill, located off RM 1869. The land is intended to support the district’s growing student population and could eventually host either a middle and high school or an elementary and middle school.
“There’s not a lot of development around the site yet,” said interim Superintendent Travis Motal. “We’re trying to stay ahead as we purchase land.”
Preparing for Major Growth
Enrollment in Liberty Hill ISD is expected to nearly double over the next decade, increasing from around 10,000 students today to more than 19,000 by the 2034–35 school year, according to a demographic report by Zonda Education.
The timing and type of campus built on the new land will depend on the district’s enrollment pace and community growth patterns.
More Schools on the Horizon
At the same meeting, trustees also approved hiring PBK Architects to begin design work on Elementary School No. 9. That school is slated to open sometime in 2027 or 2028 at a location east of US 183.
In April, the board also purchased a 13.5-acre site near CR 258 and the Santa Rita Ranch subdivision—intended for another future elementary campus close to the planned Legacy Ranch middle and high school sites.
Next Steps
The district expects to finalize the 160-acre land purchase within the next 30–60 days. These proactive moves reflect Liberty Hill ISD’s broader strategy to manage rapid growth while continuing to provide high-quality education and facilities for local families.
