Expanding education in northwest Williamson County
Harmony Science Academy has officially opened its new Leander campus, becoming the ninth Central Texas location for Harmony Public Schools. The charter network held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 17 to celebrate the milestone alongside students, families, and community members. The Leander campus began classes in August, marking the latest expansion of Harmony’s growing footprint across the region.
Strong community response and record applications
Mustafa Altindag, Central Texas area superintendent for Harmony Public Schools, said the new campus drew an exceptional level of interest, receiving more than 4,400 student applications. From that number, 640 students were admitted into the elementary program for the 2025–26 school year.
Altindag described the opening as “an exciting new chapter” for both Harmony and the city of Leander, emphasizing the enthusiastic support from parents and local residents since the start of construction.
Plans for phased expansion through high school
The campus currently serves students from pre-K through sixth grade. School officials said one grade level will be added each year, with a second school building planned to accommodate middle and high school students in the future.
The Leander opening also coincides with Harmony Public Schools’ 25th anniversary, underscoring the network’s continued growth and commitment to providing STEM-focused, college-preparatory education across Texas.
