OK, I could really use your help! I’m usually the mom who has Halloween costumes picked out by July, but this year I’m stumped! Part of it is that my daughter is set on K-Pop Demon Hunters, but I’m about 99.9% sure every girl her age will be in the exact same K-Pop outfit.

We always do family costumes, but I’m officially out of brilliant ideas. I’m toying with a few (see poll), but if you’ve got something that would be adorable for our little family of four, drop me a comment and help me out!

💵 Leander budget brings higher tax bills

The Gist: Leander City Council approved a $311.9 million budget for FY 2025–26 on Sept. 18. The tax rate isn't changing, but rising home values mean the average homeowner will pay about $200 more. City leaders say the budget will support public safety, parks, infrastructure, and expanded services.

Why It Matters: Higher bills aren't easy, but city officials say the extra revenue is needed to keep up with Leander’s growth and maintain the services we count on. We’ll feel the difference in our wallets, but the hope is that we’ll see improvements in the place we call home.

🗳️ Deadline nears to register for Nov. 4 election

The Gist: Texans must register to vote or update their information by Oct. 6 to cast ballots in the Nov. 4 election. Voters will decide on 17 proposed amendments to the state constitution along with local races, with early voting starting Oct. 20.

Why It Matters: From property taxes to local leadership, the outcomes will shape daily life across Texas. It’s a good time to double-check your registration so your voice is heard this fall. Every vote helps shape the community we share.
