The city of Cedar Park expects to complete a series of improvements at Brushy Creek Sports Park by spring 2026, according to a project update shared during a Jan. 22 City Council meeting.
Randy Lueders, Cedar Park’s director of engineering and capital projects, told council members that construction is currently underway and progressing toward completion later this spring.
What’s included in the project
The ongoing work focuses on upgrades to both athletic facilities and park infrastructure. Planned improvements include:
New fencing and nets for sports fields
Drainage and infield improvements at the softball fields
Expansion of the park’s parking lot
Additional trails throughout the park
Upgrades to existing trails, including replacing decomposed granite paths with concrete
Construction of a new maintenance building
City officials say the improvements are intended to enhance usability, safety, and long-term maintenance of the park.
Funding and approvals
The project is funded through Cedar Park’s 2022 bond package. City Council approved a construction contract in July totaling approximately $1.7 million to complete the work.
Field surfaces remain unchanged
City officials previously discussed the possibility of converting the athletic fields to artificial turf. That option was ultimately not pursued, and the fields will remain natural grass.
Once completed, the upgrades are expected to improve the experience for athletes, families, and park visitors while supporting the city’s growing recreational needs.
