We’re a couple weeks into summer, and this might be the best part. The kids are still thrilled to be home, the days feel wide open, and nobody’s counting down the final days just yet.

The Gist: Leander police are launching a “Ride Safe, Ride Legal” campaign and increasing enforcement of state laws governing e-bikes and e-motor bikes. Officers will begin issuing warnings and citations for vehicles that exceed legal limits or are not permitted on public roads.

Why It Matters: Unsafe riding and driving have been a big topic of conversation among Leander neighbors lately, especially as more kids and teens are out during summer break. The campaign may affect residents who use e-bikes or motorized bikes for recreation and transportation, and police are encouraging parents and riders to familiarize themselves with state regulations before hitting the road.

The Gist: Lakeline Park is getting closer to its next big round of improvements. Cedar Park City Council approved a $2.1 million design contract for Phase 2, which includes expanded trails, a canopy walkway, more parking and restrooms, a disc golf course, and new spaces for recreation and learning. The work is part of the city’s 2022 bond program.

Why It Matters: Lakeline Park is already a favorite spot for walks, picnics, sports, and letting the kids burn off some energy, and these upgrades should make it even easier to enjoy more of the park. The added trails and amenities will help open up areas that haven’t been used much yet, giving Cedar Park families more room to explore, play, and spend time outside as the city keeps growing.

The Gist: Ally Medical Emergency Room is planning to open a new Cedar Park-area location this summer. The facility will be open 24/7 and will offer emergency care for adults and kids, with on-site imaging and lab services available.

Why It Matters: When something scary happens, having another emergency care option close to home can make a real difference. This new location gives Cedar Park families another place to turn for around-the-clock care without having to head straight to a traditional hospital ER.

One visit to Zeytun Mediterranean Grill often turns into plans for a second. This new Leander favorite is earning praise for flavorful Persian and Mediterranean dishes, from perfectly grilled kebabs and fresh pita wraps to buttery rice and homemade hummus that shows up in review after review.

The portions are big, the prices are reasonable, and the staff makes people feel taken care of. It’s neighborhood spot that could build a loyal following fast.
