One thing I love about spring in Leander is it’s carnival season. Our kids’ school had such a fun one last week, and it was exactly the kind of Friday night that makes me so happy. There were bounce houses, obstacle courses, swing rides, train rides, and a gaming truck, all of which kept the kids smiling for hours.

They also had a few unique things, like airbrush tattoos and caricature artists, that gave the night a little extra sparkle. It was simple, easy family fun and one of those sweet community nights you just want more of.

The Gist: Cedar Park is making plans for even more to enjoy at Lakeline Park. Phase 2 includes new trails, nature-focused features, and educational signage and programming shaped by resident feedback. The city is also planning a pedestrian bridge to connect the park to the Brushy Creek Regional Trail and YMCA campus, with completion expected by the end of 2027.

Why It Matters: Lakeline Park is already such a great community spot, and these updates would give families even more ways to enjoy it. More trails, more nature learning, and an easier connection to nearby destinations would make it even better for walks, playtime, and getting outside with your neighbors.

The Gist: Chris Clark, Ed.D., is now officially Leander ISD’s superintendent. He had already been serving as acting superintendent and brings more than 30 years of public education experience, including leadership roles across the district’s 49 schools.

Why It Matters: For Leander ISD families and staff, this means steady leadership from someone who already knows the district well. With more than 42,000 students in LISD, having an experienced superintendent in place matters, and Clark is stepping into the role with a strong understanding of the schools, staff, and community.

The Gist: Cedar Park leaders are working on plans for a proposed space and defense innovation campus tied to the city’s bigger push to grow as an aerospace hub. The project is backed in part by Firefly Aerospace, the Cedar Park-based rocket and spacecraft company, and would include four buildings for research, testing, and education. Officials are still finalizing a site and looking for grant and partnership funding, but they’re hoping to break ground on the first phase later this year.

Why It Matters: This could be a pretty big deal for Cedar Park. If it moves forward, it would bring new jobs, attract more investments, and keep putting Cedar Park on the map as part of Central Texas’ growing space industry.

Grey is a sweet 8-year-old, 51 lb large mixed breed boy with a heart full of love. He’s a little shy at first and prefers a home where he’s the only pet. Grey shines with treats and can sit on command. He enjoys one-on-one attention and will warm up to family members in his own time.

The Empanada Sampler at Fogonero is a golden, crispy delight filled with beef, chicken, and cheese. A massive Arepa and the Pabellón Criollo with sweet plantains, black beans, avocado, and a fried egg make every bite memorable. Seafood linguini and inventive sauces add adventure for those trying something new, while even the burger impresses.

The Back Nine Golf is starting to come to life in Cedar Park, with a soft opening held April 12 and a grand opening party still to come next month. This new spot is opening in phases, but once it’s fully up and running, golfers can look forward to high-tech simulator bays, lounge space, private event space, and year-round play on famous courses with stat tracking built in. Tournaments, leagues, kids’ camps, company events, club fittings, and repairs are all part of the plan, and we can’t wait to check it out!
