What’s closing
Two familiar spots along Highway 29 in Liberty Hill have officially reached the end of their run. Margaritas has already closed its doors, and Time Out Sports Bar will wrap up operations at its current location on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026. The bar plans to mark the occasion with a final day gathering, inviting regulars to stop by and say goodbye.
Time Out has also shared plans to relocate. Updates on its next location will be posted to the business’s Facebook page as details become available.
What’s coming next
The building that housed both Margaritas and Time Out Sports Bar has been sold, and filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show plans for a new Denny’s restaurant at the same address. The site will be part of a larger commercial project called Q-Mart, which includes a convenience store, fuel canopies, and an additional lease space for a future tenant.
Construction on the privately funded project is expected to begin in spring 2026, with completion projected for early 2027. Demolition permits for Margaritas’ playground, deck, and canopies were approved in December, with work scheduled to begin shortly after Time Out’s final day.
A quiet goodbye, a new chapter ahead
For many locals, this stretch of Highway 29 holds years of memories tied to casual meals, game nights, and familiar faces. While it’s always bittersweet to see longtime spots close, the property is now preparing for its next chapter, reflecting how quickly Liberty Hill continues to grow and change.
